Funding Sources:
ActionAid Guatemala receives funding from a variety of sources:


Individual Donors:

  • Child Sponsorship from supporters in Italy, United Kingdom, and Greece (which finances the rural community development work in the municipalities of Tacana, San Marcos; Ixcan, Quiché; Chisec, Alta Verapaz; San Carlos Alzatate, Jalapa and La Libertad, Petén.
  • Next Step (UK), following 5 years of child sponsorship supporters are asked to transfer to Next Step to support ActionAid Guatemala’s program to strengthen civil society.
  • Amico Guatemala (Italy), whereby child supporters contribute an additional amount also to support strengthening civil society and advocacy initiatives.)
  • Azione Donna (Italy) for Rural Mayan Women’s projects
  • Azione Aiuto EuroChange Campaign: Construction of Chactela High School in Tacaná, San Marcos
  • Major Individual Donors who supply large contributions to ActionAid Guatemala’s program.

ActionAid General Fund: generated within ActionAid UK and distributed amongst Country Programs to support fulfilment of its strategic plan.


Partnership Development: With the assistance of ActionAid International Partnership Development Offices in the USA, UK, Italy, Brussels and Greece funding is obtained for specific projects from a variety of private trusts and foundations, as well as from Official Donors including the European Union, British Isles and UK.

  • Isle of Mann: Chisec Water project [2003]
  • UK Priority Projects (Volunteer Campaign): Mayan Women’s Project in 8 communities [2003-2004]
  • Banyan Tree: ActionAid Multi-country Education Campaign [2002, 2003, 2004]
  • European Union: ActionAid Multi-country project: “Building an international Civil Society Network for Food Security” [2004]
  • DEC UK: Emergency Reconstruction Project for 10 South Coast Communities [2002]
